NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER GIVE IN
No matter what happens, giving up is not an option. Never give up. For a long time, I listened to people who didn't do anything but work for other people. I could sing, sew, draw, write books and scripts, invent things, and do countless other things. I even made beauty products and health tonics. But I didn't have enough confidence in myself. I listened to other people and let self-doubt stop me every single time.
One day, while I was in my office, my mother knocked on the door. When I opened the door, she looked at my face and said, "You're very talented, Jay." 'Talented more than most people. You are a Jack of all trades AND a Master of all of them. You go from one thing to the next, never giving the first thing a chance to create residual income so you can pursue your other creations. How about doing one thing at a time until it's finished, and then doing your best to make it soar? Then, you can move on to the next idea. Can you do that?' I said, "Yes, I can." But I was stuck on AND a Master of all of them. So, every time I created something, I'd think about what my mother said.
STAY FOCUSED
There's a high you get when you're being creative. But Mom was right. You can't be successful being a scatterbrain. You must be focused and organized. Doing the work is only half of it. Ask the people around you to read your books, check out your art, so you can see if it's a winner. Get the opinion of people who care about you. Have them give you feedback. Don't be ashamed. This will help you improve and become more creative. Knowing you have a genuinely awesome product is key. This can help you when you're ready to start a business.
To be successful, you must surround yourself with positive things and people. Even if you receive negative feedback, use it as fuel and keep going. Improve what you need to make better and revamp. You must have confidence in yourself to make things happen. Put the work in. Build your inventory with beautiful things that are dear to you because other people will like them too. Take your time and perfect your craft. You have the skills to turn your ideas into a money-making venture that will benefit you, your family, and your community. This is exactly what I did. If I can do it, so can you. NOW, LET'S GO!
